On Thursday 9 November we shall be holding an Open Evening for prospective Sixth Form students and their parents.
Car parking is very restricted on the school site; visitors are advised to park in one of the 2 public car parks available on Stokes Bay, within 5 minutes walk of the school. Limited parking is also available in the Stanley Park lay-by outside the front of the school and in surrounding residential roads.
The evening will run from 5.30-8.30pm and there will be opportunities throughout the evening to:
- Consult with staff representing each of the teaching departments,
- View the Sixth Form facilities, and
- Attend a presentation by the Head of Sixth Form and Executive Headteacher – brief talks followed by questions (including student panel).
Presentations will take place at 5.45pm & 6.45pm in the Lower Hall, each lasting around 45 minutes.
There are currently 450 students in the Sixth Form. Purpose-built accommodation provides excellent facilities, including a large common room, library, study and IT facilities, exclusively for sixth formers’ use. The personal approach at Bay House involves close guidance and support of students. Sixth formers are taught by highly-qualified and experienced staff dedicated to sound scholarship and high achievement. Our A Level results in 2017 produced an outstanding pass rate of 100%, with 90% achieving grades A*-C, compared to 77% nationally. The A*-C pass rate is the highest in the state sector in Hampshire.
Our Sixth Form Prospectus for 2018 can be viewed here. Copies will also be available at the Open Evening or may be obtained directly from the Sixth Form office.
I do hope that you will be able to come to the Open Evening, with your son or daughter, to find out more!
