Key Stage 5 - A Level

We teach the AQA specification (linear A level) to students. All are entered for the AS exams and then for the A2 exams if they continue.

We are the largest subject in sixth form; currently 120 lower sixth students and 85 upper sixth students. Students receive 9 taught hours per fortnight in the subject from 2 specialist teachers.

We encourage co-operation with local universities (e.g. Portsmouth and Winchester) to carry out psychological research.

We also invite guest speakers from various areas of psychology, for example cognitive neuroscience and dance psychology.

We run trips to see eminent psychologists speak, such as Zimbardo.

We co-ordinate with sociology to run an annual trip to a conference on life behind bars and the effects of prison on inmates (including some on life sentences).

Students are encouraged to do wider reading and apply their knowledge of psychology to real life.
