At a basic level, our catering courses help to provide our students with an important life skill. This means that they can cook for themselves and their families and understand the importance of healthy eating.
However, the courses also give students the opportunity to further develop their skills so that they can aim to be the next Jamie Oliver.
Key Stage 3
All students in Years 7, 8 and 9 study food and nutrition. They have a one-hour lesson each week for one term, where they are encouraged to discover their culinary talents in our kitchens. Students make a variety of dishes and have the option of bringing home or eating their creations at break time.
Key Stage 4
Students who opt to progress to the GCSE catering course complete two one-hour lessons each week during Years 10 and 11. The course is designed for those who want to progress into the catering industry, but many choose this option because they enjoy cooking and they see it as an important skill for their adult life.
