Work Experience will take place during the week 26 - 30 June 2017
Work experience is an important step in preparing pupils for being work ready, providing real opportunities to develop the key skills needed for future employability and to see how these skills are linked to their learning in school. For these reasons we will be encouraging all pupils to arrange a placement.
We will again be using EBP South (Educational Business Partnership), to source, arrange and manage the placements. They have a vast database of jobs that pupils can pick from and a wealth of experience in getting pupils into placements.
There are two options for finding a placement:
Option 1 EBP database – Pupils will be given a login to the EBP placements database. They will choose up to four jobs, ranked in order of preference, and these will then be arranged and confirmed by EBP. If the placements are unavailable pupils will be asked to make further choices. A Student Guide can be found in the Guide section of the EBP website https://ebpsouth.work-experience.co.uk/Resources.aspx
Option 2 Own Placement - Many pupils like to find their own placements and this is fully supported by the school. Pupils would need to contact the employer themselves and complete the ‘Own Placement Form’ available here and on the EBP website (https://ebpsouth.work-experience.co.uk/Resources.aspx). Printed copies are also available in school. This form will need to be returned to school with the payment.
Both options will be administered and managed by EBP.
As a school it is our priority to know pupils are safe when on placement and that they have a positive and useful experience. A £39 contribution is required for each pupil to help cover the administrative costs ensuring all relevant insurance and safeguarding measures are in place. Pupils will not be able to book a placement until the payment has been received.
Pupils will receive their personal log in details during tutor time on Tuesday 25 April and will be able to access the database from home. There will also be after school clinics running from 3.15pm to 4.15pm on Tuesday 25 April to Thurs 27 April for pupils to access computers and seek advice.
We ask that payments are made by Monday 24 April 2017. Payments can be made online using the school’s online payment system here or at the finance office by cash and cheque. Placements cannot be approved until payment has been made. If you are experiencing financial hardship then please contact the Year Office to discuss.
