BUILDING LEARNER POWER

Building Learning Power

What is BLP?

Building Learning Power (BLP) is an approach to helping young people become better learners, both in school and out.

Who is BLP for?

BLP is for anyone who wants to know how to get better results and contribute to the development of real-life, lifelong learners. (Guy Claxton, University of Winchester).

How can I get involved?

The school is setting up a working party for parents to look at how BLP can be used at home, as well as in the classroom. If you are interested please email the school with the subject BLP Working Party and ask your email to be forwarded to Mr Matthias (Advanced Skills Teacher, English Department).

What is the Bay House School Language for Learning?

As part of the school's journey to become a Building Learning Power School, in the Summer of 2008 pupils and teachers developed a common language for learning based on the requirements of Claxton's BLP model and the DCSF's Personal Learning and Thinking Skills.
