ECDL at Bay House School

Introduction to ECDL at Bay House School
The European Computer Driving LicenceĀ® (ECDL) is an internationally recognised qualification which enables people to demonstrate their competence in computer skills. It is managed in the UK by the British Computer Society (BCS).
ECDL is the fastest-growing IT user qualification in the world, and is now available in over 125 countries. No prior knowledge of IT or skill in computing is needed to study ECDL; it is designed for people wishing to gain a benchmark qualification in computing to enhance their career prospects or for personal development. The skills gained over the course of the qualification will not only improve your career options, but take the frustration out of using your computer on an everyday basis by boosting both your efficiency and your confidence.
ECDL Essentials and ECDL Extra
The basic ECDL qualification is broken down into two levels: ECDL Essentials and ECDL Extra. These can be taken individually to obtain single certificates, or together to achieve the overall ECDL qualification.
The combined ECDL qualification is ideal for novice computer users wishing to prove and improve their computing skills for the benefit of themselves and of future employers. It is also particularly suited to those who require the utmost flexibility in their learning program, perhaps due to personal or career commitments.
ECDL Essentials is a Level 1 ITQ Award and consists of 3 modules. ECDL Extra is a Level 2 ITQ Certificate and consists of 4 modules.
Bay House School offers the ECDL qualification to:
- Members of the local community;
- Education Partners;
- Bay House and Partner School Staff;
- Sixth Form Students;
- Pupils in Key Stage 4.
